Pendine Sands, 14th June, 2000

Saturday June 17th is confirmed as the date of the first of this year's three record-attempt weekends.

The beach at PendineThe weather forecast is promising - temperatures in the 80s are predicted, although not necessarily for Pendine!, but with a bit of luck some of that much-awaited summer should rub off on us.

Meanwhile, today has dawned misty, cloudy and wet as the engineers began the final countdown to Saturday. The workshop is a hive of activity as the team start the process of setting up the car and ensuring that the electric drivetrain is primed for the task ahead. But we will need better weather tomorrow if the test schedule is to stay on course.

OfficeIn the team HQ, final preparations are being made for what promises to be a hectic weekend. Hotels are being booked, sandwiches ordered, and lists prepared to cover every eventuality.

The tide window on Saturday gives the team about three hours in the early afternoon in which to make the attempt.
