In The News: Breaking the engine barrier, Article on BBC Online Wales web site 14th February, 2001.
Good news for speed lovers! The search is on for partners to help take the next phase of the Bluebird Project forward! A campaign is being launched by Don Wales to raise £2.5 million to build the next generation Bluebird for an assault on the world record for electric cars.
The new B3 car is the one designed for Bluebird by Thrust SSC systems designer Jerry Bliss and should be ready to roll next year at speeds in excess of 300 mph (the present record, set last year, stands at 257).
The new campaign is set to launch at Brooklands this summer. Testing is scheduled on Pendine Sands in West Wales – scene of Bluebird’s UK-record-breaking feats in 2000 - with a record attempt planned provisionally for Bonneville in 2005.

This web site was taken off-line about two years ago. I have felt during this time that it was a shame that this site was no longer available for public browsing. It is therefore my pleasure to announce, that the Bluebird electric land speed record project web site is once again open.
The project is far from dead. Bluebird Automotive concentrated for 3 years on developing the commercial side of the business. Details can be found at www.bluebirdautomotive.com there is still a lot in development, and a lot of design work has already been done on the new Bluebird electric land speed record project car. In fact some components have already been made.
Take a moment to remember that not one of the eight records that the Bluebird electric land speed record project set, has been broken by any other team since.
